Creativity meets technical expertise to create unique collections
The aim of the Fashion Design degree programme at IED Torino is to prepare you with all the tools you need to manage and design fashion collections in any of its forms. The lab-based approach of this programme will allow you to develop a deep understanding of the product, with a focus on such areas as product development, marketing, graphics and 3D design software, to name just a few.
The learning approach of the Fashion Design programme at IED Torino is based on a combination of different types of training - face-to-face classes, project work, workshops, and also school trips. You will be involved into group and individual presentation sessions, seminars, workshops as well as extracurricular activities.
You will have the opportunity to work with both national and international companies that will entrust you with real projects to work on. As a result, your technical skills will be further enhanced to cover a variety of areas such as trend and material research, mood boards and collection book creation.
If you feel passionate about fashion, if you feel that keeping up with the latest trends in magazines, on the street and on social networks is not just a hobby, but rather a skill you would like to develop into a career, and if you dream about creating a brand or joining a fashion company, the Fashion Design degree programme at IED Torino is definitely your best option.
You don’t need to be already skilled in drawing, pattern-making, tailoring or using specific software and applications. The main thing is that you enjoy fashion and view it as a way to express your identity, to communicate and share your feelings with people.
Over the three years of your Fashion Design programme at IED Torino, you will learn how to design, develop and supervise a fashion collection project, from concept to complete production. We will be with you as you approach a learning process where lessons are not just a mere tool to passively build up your skills. Rather, our teaching methods will encourage you to always be involved in each part of your projects, as you gradually learn how to manage your work processes and schedules independently.
The Fashion Design degree programme at IED Torino has its focus on the product, which is actually the key element of the whole training process. Over the three years, you will have the opportunity to develop knowledge and, most importantly, acquire strong technical skills that will empower your creativity, from inspiration all the way to complete garment design and production. Indeed, today fashion Designers are no longer just creative minds, but rather professionals with strong technical skills, who are focused on innovation and understand how production works through the whole process, catching up with the latest trends and always staying ahead of times.
As a result, and since we strongly believe in keeping a technical approach to the profession, we are the first school having implemented CLO3D for more than six years now. This is the most popular software used by major fashion brands. It will allow you to maximize your product development processes, making three-dimensional fashion design a reality, from 3D collection modelling all the way to dynamic virtual fashion show.
This degree programme is delivered in Turin and can count on close relationships with important brands and fashion houses that we have developed over the years. However, the IED network is not just limited to national borders: you will also have the opportunity to work with a number of multinational companies that will contribute greatly to the level of your training. You will enjoy on-site lectures, work on specific projects and attend trade fairs, domestically and internationally.
The Fashion Design degree programme at IED Torino will provide you with a complete training opportunity and all of the new skills you need to work in today’s fashion industry. You will realize that this is a world of passion and technical know-how, where traditional knowledge merges with innovative inspiration, strong organizational skills and determination to take on new challenges. And this is the place where you will find your own dimension, as you prepare to move into the market and work as a Fashion Designer, Textile Designer, Product Manager, or 3D Fashion Designer.
The main software you will need during your course is provided by IED!
