An emotional journey into the "creative chaos" of young designers, amid inspirations, experimentation, and research, envisioning a future where quality prevails over quantity, reinterpreting classic codes from a contemporary perspective.
The new fashion film "Fashion Gap" directed by photographer and filmmaker Ivan Cazzola and produced by Comodo64, provides an intimate and authentic glimpse into the creative process of students enrolled in IED Torino’s Three-Year Fashion Design Course. More than just a runway show, it serves as a visual narrative that explores the creative chaos and imagines a possible future for fashion.
“Fashion Gap” is a behind-the-scenes film with various interpretations that explores in depth how the creative proposals from the students on the Three-Year Course in Fashion Design come to life, via backstage footage and design moments, amidst the noise of the city of Turin using live testimonies, and gives a voice to these students to share their vision of a possible future. The result is a manifesto that imagines a tomorrow where quality prevails over quantity, which looks to the past by reinterpreting classic codes in a new contemporary perspective.
The strong influence of the urban aesthetic identifies the style and also recalls the regional context and background in which the course is developed - Turin, a former industrial city with a historical vocation for innovation - also features in the video. The stage on which the models parade are the streets of the San Salvario neighbourhood, but above all the spaces of the new Marconi seat of IED Torino. A redevelopment project realised under the banner of the conscious use of resources and designed by the Marcante Testa architecture studio. Here, the ordinary can be transformed into the extraordinary. The beating heart of these new spaces is the Tailoring and Accessories Workshops, where garments come to life, in video and reality. Here and in the Archive students can experiment with materials, yarns and fabrics to broaden their knowledge of different fibres and textures and be inspired.
With Fashion Gap, IED Torino reaffirms its commitment to training conscious designers capable of envisioning the future of fashion with a blend of passion, expertise, and vision. This future merges sartorial art with innovation, resulting in a fashion that is aesthetic and serves as a form of storytelling and reflection.
