What will the new immersive and multimodal forms of communication in a post-digital world look like?

The field of communication is currently undergoing radical transformations, driven by the evolution of media, the impact of advanced technologies, and the rise of a new generation of conscious consumers demanding immersive experiences and participatory communication.

Our Master’s Degree in Communication and Creative Technologies: Designing Complex and Multimodal Systems responds to this shift by preparing Designers and Creatives to develop innovative immersive and multimodal communication. By combining the latest emerging technologies with design thinking, creative technology, and content generation, the programme ensures the coherence of expansive and intricate brand ecosystems across multiple channels and experiences.

The course allows students to build a solid design culture, mastering various tools and methodologies to responsibly shape the future of communication. This aligns with the vision of DesignXCommons, focusing on sustainable design applied to the integration of common goods and the regeneration of the planet.

Through an interdisciplinary approach, the course integrates insights from new media studies, communication design, design thinking, philosophy, creative coding, and data visualisation, guiding students in four key areas:

  • The comprehensive development of brand systems, covering branding strategies, brand communication, customer experience, and event design for performances.
  • The use of advanced technologies to explore new digital experiences, encouraging students to critically and responsibly engage with generative AI as a creative problem-solving tool.
  • The design of immersive experiences that merge virtual and physical realities, from extended reality (XR) to spatial computing.
  • The creation of innovative content through transmedia storytelling techniques.

Upon completing the programme, graduates will be equipped to work in design studios, creative agencies, and companies as professionals capable of reshaping communication paradigms and driving transformation in the creative industry. They will be well-prepared for roles such as Digital Creative Director, Creative Technologist, AI Designer, Spatial Experience Designer, or Data Visualisation Specialist.

Graduates will also have the opportunity to continue their studies through PhD programmes at Italian and international universities.
