This visit provided an opportunity for students to observe institutional language and reflect on the role of public communication in shaping political discourse.
Two intense days in the Capital allowed students from the Communication Design course at IED Torino to engage in a remarkable educational experience in Rome, accompanied by their lecturer, Elena Actis, a seasoned communication and Public Affairs professional.
During their stay, the group visited two significant institutional landmarks: the Chamber of Deputies, located in the historic Palazzo Montecitorio, and the Senate of the Republic, housed in the 17th-century Palazzo Madama. This was a unique opportunity to closely observe the workings of the Italian legislative system and consider the role of communication within public institutions.
Thanks to their lecturer’s extensive experience and connections within these institutional contexts, the students could explore the internal dynamics of these environments, gaining insights into the methods, codes, and tools specific to institutional communication.
One of the most memorable moments of the visit was attending an official Senate session, which was briefly interrupted to extend greetings to the students in the presence of members of the current government. This symbolic gesture emphasized the importance of opening institutional spaces to younger generations.
