Cinema is a collective, ever-evolving experience, it’s the art of change and collaboration, learned through engaging with others and the world around us.
In the Bachelor’s Degree (DAPL) in Cinema: Creation and Production of Cinematic Narratives you will learn cinema by doing it. Structured as a comprehensive creative laboratory, this cinema course is built on the idea of cinema as a collective process, where every project is born out of the synergy of various professional roles, each indispensable and closely interconnected.
Under the guidance of instructors who hold significant professional roles within the industry, you will gain a thorough understanding of the creative and production processes behind cinematic and television works.
Over the course of three years, you will experience life as part of a film crew, taking on various roles related to film production. You will learn how to become a director, the fundamental skills and attitudes required, how to write a script, and how to create compelling stories and characters. You will explore the essential responsibilities of a cinematographer (director of photography) and understand what makes film editing a central element in the creative and production process of a film.
Combining broad and multidisciplinary cultural preparation with a hands-on, laboratory-based approach, this film degree equips you with the tools to develop an original perspective and strong technical skills. You will apply these abilities to create increasingly complex and ambitious projects as you progress through the program.
This balance of theory and practice prepares you to meet the demands of the film industry, maintained through constant interaction with the sector. The course is delivered by a faculty of prominent figures from the Italian film school landscape and through collaborations with key industry players. Milan, an increasingly strategic hub for the film industry, plays a critical role in this programme. The city is home to major television broadcasters, prominent production houses, and cultural institutions linked to national and international cinema and television.
By the end of the three-year bachelor of arts film programme, you will have gained skills across various areas of film production and a strong command of the entire filmmaking process. This foundation will allow you to make informed decisions about pursuing a film studies master's program or entering the professional world.

The three-year programme covers all phases of film production and delves into the different skills required for each stage.
The first year introduces the roles in cinema. Practical courses, such as screenwriting courses, shooting techniques, film directing techniques, and film editing, are taught sequentially, allowing students to try out various roles and discover those most aligned with their talents and interests. Theoretical classes lay the groundwork for analysing films, developing a personal creative vision, and forming an individual approach to storytelling.
Students will produce small projects such as short films and documentaries, replicating all aspects of a real production.
In the second year, students work on more complex projects, simulating large-scale productions. This involves learning about how to write a screenplay, pitching, and project presentations. Theoretical classes focus on specialised disciplines, while practical courses deepen technical skills. Students will use industry-standard software, including Final Draft, Celtx sceneggiatura, Pro Tools, and Da Vinci Pro for post-production, as well as tools for visual effects like After Effects, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
In the final year, students choose a specialisation and work in teams resembling a professional film crew to produce a final short film. During the first semester, students focus on writing and pre-production, while the second semester is dedicated to video post-production and the completion of the project.
Faculty and coordinators guide students towards the most suitable specialisation based on their preferences and skills demonstrated during the first two years. Although specialisation is optional, all students graduate with comprehensive skills, enabling them to take on any role in cinema or continue with film directing courses, cinema studies master's programmes, or professional opportunities.
