‘Arrecife’ has been located in the Atrium of the Ensanche Building, the epicentre of most of the activities planned

On 26 November, the ninth edition of Bilbao Bizkaia Design Week came to a close with over 7,000 attendees taking part in the 65 events held; among them, the projects carried out in conjunction with IED Kunsthal Bilbao, one of its key collaborators.

Second-year students of the Bachelor of Arts in Interior Design were in charge of designing and producing this modular and open infrastructure, an example of a collaborative ecosystem. Throughout the week, ‘Arrecife’, or ‘Reef’ in English, played host to a range of pieces and objects representing the activities of the creative and cultural actors involved.

The work team, formed both of students and the teachers Ricardo Ruiz, Diego Sologuren and Jesús Arrecubieta, Director of the School of Design, carried out a range of coordination and assembly tasks that resulted in a flexible, light structure that was extremely adaptable to the different activities that took place in the Atrium of the Ensanche Building.

During the Inauguration of the event, the students Candela Cueto and Elena Odriozola had the opportunity to present the work process they followed, from the ideation, design and production phases, right through to the final assembly of the structure.
