The event was part of the launch of the Master's of Arts programs in Milan, which include courses in Product Design – Techno-Bodies for Equal Futures, Interior Design – Spatial Practices for Gathering Cultures, and Visual Communication – Critical Narratives in Post-Digital Worlds.
Nelly Ben Hayoun's lecture took the audience on a journey through her work as a designer, which revolves around creating events with a strong sociological and critical impact. She also focused on reflections and discussions about the urgent need for organized communities, nightlife, and pluralism in society.
During the lecture, she spoke about many of her projects and shared her experience in conceptualizing and leading the LGBTQ+ festival Tour de Moon, a free, public, pluralistic, and nationwide event created to celebrate nightlife and youth subcultures across the United Kingdom.
She also presented the latest edition of the feature film Doppelgangers x3, a diasporic investigation into human settlement on the moon, in collaboration with Nelly's own doppelgangers.
The session concluded with an extensive Q&A, during which students had the opportunity to express their ideas and engage in an intense debate with the designer.
