On October 26, 2024, at 11 AM, the Polo del '900 will host a meeting to highlight the role of Turin's schools in promoting creative and sustainable approaches in the design of the future.

As part of the celebrations for the Decennial of Turin as a UNESCO Creative City of Design, the talk "Innovating Design Through Education" will feature the participation of IED – European Institute of Design, the Polytechnic University of Turin, IAAD, and the Albertina Academy. The event aims to explore the crucial role of institutions in training the design professionals of tomorrow.

Turin is one of the most significant Italian cities in the field of design, thanks to the strategic contributions of its universities and institutes, which provide a privileged point for experimentation and the development of cutting-edge approaches and methodologies, addressing urgent issues and emerging specializations.

During the meeting, Paola Zini, director of IED Turin, along with Ivan Vietti, a recent graduate with a Master’s Degree in Transdisciplinary Design Mobility, will present the educational paths and innovative methodologies adopted by IED to prepare the new generations of designers for the contemporary world.

Additionally, IED will participate in the We Design exhibition, curated by the Circolo del Design, which voices the local creative community and celebrates the symbolic places of design in Turin. To commemorate the 10th anniversary of Turin's designation as a UNESCO Creative City of Design, hundreds of posters displayed under the porticoes in Via Po and Piazza Palazzo di Città will showcase the stories of designers active in the city, educational institutions, and prominent figures in the Turin industry, creating a chorus of contemporary design voices.

This initiative is part of the Torino Design City project, realized in collaboration with Urban Lab and Turismo Torino, with the contribution of the Ministry of Tourism.
