Contemporary: a runway show that focuses on sustainability and innovation, with garments reinterpreted by the students of the Master’s in Fashion Design at IED Milano.
The Fashion Hub area (Hall 10) at Fieramilano will host the runway show organized by Milano Fashion&Jewels on February 25 at 12:30, featuring the students of the Master’s in Fashion Design at IED Milano.
Sustainability and sharing are the key themes of Contemporary, the upcycling project at the heart of the show, alongside the unique personalities of each designer. Each young designer interprets their work based on their personal experiences. For this reason, the essential elements of the work were memory, both familial and geographical, DNA and roots, traditions, and future inspirations, as well as the passions and fascinations that have accompanied their growth.
Recycled fabrics are another fundamental aspect of the project: used as canvases, they welcomed experimental techniques and traces of the past, preserving the memory of what they once were to then project into a new form, which is the very essence of the upcycling concept. The garments, whether vintage or originally intended for other uses, are reinterpreted with a streetwear twist, through experimentation and working techniques that go beyond the usual, making the unexpected prêt-à-porter.
The following designers will present their collections: Attilio Pallagrosi, Silvia Marsano, Tamar Bregadze, Mariana Maurity, Nirvana Rahmani, Neshat Jeganegi, Pasquale Montoro, Ines Barreto, Sophie Kuhar, Surabhi Awate.
The creative direction of the project is by the teacher and coordinator, Marina Spadafora.
