In October 2000, Queen Elizabeth II came to Milan and on her itinerary there was a visit to the Istituto Europeo di Design.
In fact, she wanted to learn more about our institute dedicated to the training of Italian design.
Therefore, for the occasion, IED hosted an exhibition of British designers. Furthermore, Francesco Morelli - IED's Founder and then President - spoke to the Queen about the value and uniqueness of creativity. In accordance with protocol, Morelli was one of the few individuals allowed to address the Queen directly.
Today, as the world remembers the Sovereign of the United Kingdom, IED also wishes to recall that special visit when royalty and great curiosity entered the Via Sciesa courtyard. That visit that will remain in our history.
