IED Barcelona bridal fashion is celebrating a decade at the forefront of training in bridal and ceremony dress design by once again dressing various spaces in the city white and participating in the latest edition of Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week (BBFW), organised by Fira de Barcelona with the support of the Department of Business and Employment of the Government of Catalonia.
“Being Barcelona, the bridal capital with a century-long history as a benchmark in the haute couture sector, 10 years ago we launched the Postgraduate in Wedding and Ceremony Dresses Design. A leading programme where this strength of the city is enhanced and translated into the final product, with impeccably executed designs, full of creativity and innovation. Dresses that bring together everything that is the wonderful artisan tradition of Barcelona with the best quality fabrics and a lot of the Mediterranean, and that they could be admired in various locations,” states Pilar Pasamontes, Fashion School Scientific Director at IED Barcelona.
Almanac goes white with IED Barcelona
From 22 to 28 April, 12 creations by students of the Postgraduate program in Wedding and Ceremony Dresses Design were showcased in an exhibition located across various interior spaces of the Almanac Barcelona hotel, an official partner of Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week.
And, for the seventh year in a row, until 5 May, Gratacós hosted three wedding dress looks created by alumni from the postgraduate course in the window of its store, internationally renowned for haute couture fabrics.

In addition, as it has been doing for the past decade, IED will participate in Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week (23 to 27 April), where it unveiled the bridal fashion design process emerging from its classrooms with 15 illustrations of wedding dresses in the commercial pavilion of the trade show.
Further, students from the Design School’s Fashion, Communication and Master’s schools won in various challenges for the Vivienne Westwood fashion show, the star of this 2025 edition. They designed the VIP invitation and event poster, inspirational video clips (teasers), and various accessories, one of which was selected to appear on the catwalk located in the emblematic University of Barcelona building, thus uniting bridal design with art and culture.
Last but not least, IED Barcelona’s Director, Andrea Marchesi, was once again on the jury of the Barcelona Bridal & Fashion Awards.
