Close-fitting accessories play a key role in the fashion collection presented by the IED Milano graduate Andrea Cella.
IED Milan graduate Andrea Cella achieved the YKK prize, the main sponsor of Milano Moda Graduate 2024, with a collection inspired by backpacking and high-altitude sports. He was one of the 10 shortlisted students who took the runway for that category on September 17th.
Andrea was awarded by Renzo Rosso, President of the Jury, and by Masahiko Okahara, Commercial Director YKK Italia. As part of the prize, he will have the chance to visit Japan during a trip dedicated to the discovery of YKK, leading company in fastening components.
On the catwalk, there were also two IED fashion design graduates: Marco Servedio, with the 3K workwear collection, and Edoardo Vedelago, competing in the Fashion Design category with StOa.
THE WINNER COLLECTION
Round Around stands apart from classic performance wear with the aim of creating a Performance Wear Couture. Engineered decorative elements are juxtaposed with the materials and manufacturing methods typical of technical clothing.
Starting from the imagery of the 1990s and 2000s, key items in the collection are the round puffers, which, when worn, insulate and protect, but which can be transformed into comfortable rucksacks, thanks to the three-dimensional modelling construction; the shells, trousers and jackets with waterproof and windproof protection systems designed by observing natural formations and dynamics; hoodies reinterpreted from both a technical and a visual research side; technical trousers and thermal jerseys, with cuts designed to comfortably fit the body lines.
The selection of materials includes a wide range of circular knit fabrics, technical fabrics with finishes and resins to enhance performance, and a range of membrane fabrics.
21 years old, born and raised in Milan, Andrea has a great passion for sports and outdoor activities, which have allowed him to break down mental barriers and discover the natural environments of his area, perceived as sources of learning. He describes himself as curious and sunny, firmly convinced that limits in life are self-imposed.
