The emerging fashion designer gained distinction as part of the Camera Nazionale della Moda programme dedicated to the excellence of Italian schools.

21 years old, from Bergamo, Gaia Invernizzi is the recipient of a cash prize and a year's supply of fastening accessories from YKK Italia, the Main Partner of Milano Moda Graduate.

The recent IED graduate in Fashion Design triumphed at the event promoted by the Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana in support of new talents in the fashion system. She stood out from among 10 young people in the YKK category dedicated to the best special outfit focusing on the use of fastening accessories.

The aim behind the design of my garments is to adapt to shapes but above all to be able to modify in such a way as to make the person free to choose how to use them according to circumstances and personal preference”, says Gaia, who was given the award personally by Tomoya Nakahata, President of YKK Italy. “Modifications are possible thanks to the insertion of zips as the main accessory, but also thanks to the fabrics, which have alterations that alter their initial structure”.

The outfit presented is from her thesis collection: “Thanks to fashion, I have been able to carry out research based on the study of the body and its possible variations. Through garments, the body can discover new and unconventional forms that are subjectively accepted with difficulty. The research was developed during the thesis phase and became the central theme. A body can be altered by a subject, from the point of view of appearance, to such an extent that it is deformed to the eye, resulting in withdrawal into oneself and fear of relating to one's surroundings”.

Also on the catwalk with Gaia at the ADI Design Museum for Milano Moda Graduate are IED colleagues Gianluca Zumbolo and Angela Tursi for the Fashion Design category, and Laura Finizio for the YKK category.
