With a concept based on the origin of vegetables that grow in the ground, this proposal for the Virens restaurant at the Hotel Almanac Barcelona seeks to offer diners a unique and mysterious journey into the unknown through the use of lighting and materials.
The students use industrial hemp and bricks with various shades of brown and terracotta that connect with the world of the subsoil. For the walls of the restaurant, a gradient from dark to light is created and corten steel is used in vertical and horizontal bars to create a covering in the mezzanine.
As for the light, it falls focally on the dishes, indirectly on the brick lattices on the walls, and more dimly on the surroundings, creating a dramatic and theatrical atmosphere.
