Moisés Nieto, Carlota Barrera, Pepa Salazar, María Ke Fisherman, Jaime Álvarez (Mans) and Tíscar Espadas: 6 winners from IED Madrid in the 13 editions of the award

Tíscar Espadas, former student and current teacher at IED Madrid, has been awarded as the winner of the 13th edition of the prestigious Vogue Fashion Fund 2024, consolidating her place as one of the most promising designers in Spanish fashion. This recognition, one of the most relevant awards in the industry in our country, underlines the talent and innovation of a creator who has made a difference with her authentic and conscious proposal.

In an event full of emotions, the designer born in Úbeda, Jaén, won the award. Tíscar Espadas, with her homonymous brand launched in London in 2019, has captivated the Asian market, particularly Japan, with collections that break with traditional fashion cycles. Her unique approach of presenting her pieces in ‘Chapters’, which add up and complement each other, focuses on the durability and quality of the garments, eliminating the ephemeral nature of the usual collections.

Tíscar Espadas' victory marks a milestone not only for her career, but also for IED Madrid, a benchmark in higher education in fashion and design, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. With this new edition, there are now six designers formed in this school recognized with this award. Moreover, in this 13th edition, the three finalists for the award shared a common bond: their education in fashion design at Istituto Europeo di Design. Along with Espadas, the nominees were Ernesto Naranjo (IED Madrid) and Edward Cuming (IED Barcelona), reaffirming the school's solid position at the forefront of fashion.

IED Madrid: cradle of future fashion leaders

“At IED Madrid, we are proud to see how our alumni continue to succeed in the global fashion scene. Tíscar Espadas' victory in Vogue Fashion Fund 2024 is a reflection of the excellence and innovation that characterise our community. We will continue to support emerging talent and contribute to the development of sustainable and responsible fashion, values that we consider essential for the future of the industry”, says Federico Antelo, Head of Fashion School at IED Madrid.

IED at the Vogue Fashion Fund, a legacy of talent

Tíscar Espadas is not the only IED representation in the history of this award. In previous editions, names such as Moisés Nieto, Carlota Barrera, Pepa Salazar, María Ke Fisherman and Jaime Álvarez (Mans) have also received the award, highlighting the impact of our programmes in the training of leading designers at a global level.

In addition, both Espadas and Naranjo were recently nominated for Premio Talento Novel de la Academia de la Moda Española, confirming that the next generation of designers formed at IED Madrid is set to redefine the standards of Spanish fashion and beyond.

Avant-garde and tradition: a commitment to the future

Tíscar Espadas has earned a prominent place in the industry thanks to her disruptive and sustainable approach. Her firm has established itself as a reference for conscious fashion, standing out for its artisanal approach.

Meanwhile, Ernesto Naranjo, winner of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Talent in 2014, continues to challenge the boundaries of creativity after working with such giants as John Galliano at Maison Margiela and Olivier Rousteing at Balmain. His work is distinguished by revitalising the artisanal industry in southern Spain, working closely with local tailors in the production of his collections. Both designers, along with Edward Cuming, have completed their training at Central Saint Martins, reinforcing their global vision and capacity for innovation.

Congratulations, Tíscar!
