A ceramic wine bottle/jug with a texture that simulates desertified soil. An artistic installation that denounces violence against women. A light sculpture and glass bowl that invite us to reflect on the nature of our minds… The list goes on, with 17 designs of jewellery, accessories, furniture and kitchen utensils in glass, pottery, textile and leather, through which third-year Product Design students from IED Barcelona – accompanied by the mastery of local craftspeople – have explored the union of artisan processes and digital manufacturing in the latest edition of ‘New Crafts. Digital Revolution IV’.
‘New Crafts Digital Revolution IV’ is a project within the subject Personal Development Project, tutored by Elisa Padrón and carried out in collaboration with the Catalan Commerce, Crafts and Fashion Consortium (Consorcio de Comercio, Artesanía y Moda, CCAM) and the Ateneu de Fabricació Digital [Fab Lab] in Gràcia.
In addition, the initiative provides students with the opportunity to delve deeper into areas of personal interest, allowing them to develop innovative projects that embody their core values and beliefs.
