Join it, a system of sustainable production by IED Barcelona Product Design students Rocío Telecemian and Rodrigo Triana Escamilla, has won the 4th edition of the Social Ideas Contest for the Greek island of Lesbos.

The award, organised by the Metropolitan Area of Barcelona (AMB) Area for International Relations and Cooperation in close collaboration with the NGO Lesvos Solidarity, recognised the originality and creativity of the students’ design. The proposal contemplates the creation of a range of products using the plastic from rubber dinghies, avoiding the use of additional materials, and do not require any specific skills to put them together.

Thanks to this award, the students will have the opportunity to travel to Lesbos to find out more about the situation on the island, and experience the workshop of the Association Lesvos Solidarity.

Along with Join it, other projects from IED Barcelona were shortlisted in the latest edition of the contest: Collarclick, by Hugo Jorgens and Martí Callís; and Stratum, by Peter Hansen and Nicolás Pazmiño-Miño.

Collarclick is a collar for dogs made from recycled life jackets, while Stratum proposes the creation of a multi-use hammock from the same material.
