Eight international students completed a thesis in collaboration with the Metropolitan City of Turin and the Links Foundation, aimed at improving regional mobility in Piedmont.

The IED Turin campus marked a historic milestone with the graduation of its first master's students. This group of eight young individuals from various parts of the world completed the Master’s Degree in Transdisciplinary Design. Mobility.

The thesis project, conducted in collaboration with the Metropolitan City of Turin and the Links Foundation, focused on studying mobility data in the Piedmont Region. The goal was to develop new methodologies and strategies to enhance regional mobility, adopting a transdisciplinary approach to contribute to the goals set by the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan of the City of Turin by 2030.

One of these students, Arvid De Groote, presented an innovative thesis on mobility in low-density regions. He explored various solutions such as a high-frequency autonomous metro system to make the railway infrastructure more accessible and efficient; addressed the issue of village depopulation by reintegrating services through physical and digital mobility; and used tourism as a lever to implement mobility solutions in low-density regions, drawing inspiration from the Slow Food movement.
