Date

24 March 2025

IED presents the 1:1 scale prototype created by students from the Master in Transportation Design in collaboration with Italdesign, with the aim of reinterpreting the concept of sportiness through bold and innovative design.

The Istituto Europeo di Design presents Rapida, the new concept car designed in collaboration with Italdesign. The result of the Thesis Project by students from the Master in Transportation Design at IED Torino, Rapida combines emotion and performance, reinterpreting iconic sports cars of the past with a modern and visionary approach.

Designed to capture the imagination of young enthusiasts of speed, aesthetics, and freedom, the car responds to the desires and needs of a generation seeking a driving experience that combines high performance and quality design, without compromising on affordability, at a time when the driving experience is undergoing a profound transformation.

For six months, the young designers worked as a true design center, in close contact with professors and mentors from Italdesign. They studied market trends, analyzed benchmarks, and honed their skills to create a compact sports car capable of meeting the needs of an ever-evolving sector.

Rapida is designed by the students of the Master in Transportation Design IED Torino, academic year 2024/25: Megh Bhatt (India), Marina Cerfeda (Italy), Tanmay Virendra Chillal (India), Santiago Espindola (Argentina), Marica Flagiello (Italy), Jorge García del Río (Spain), Sheil Himanshu Joshi (India), Sarthak Kanojia (India), Sara Krsmanovic (Serbia), Siu Fung George Lau (China), Chang-Chun Ma (Taiwan), Gautham Moolakkaparambil Madhu (India), Pavan Narayana Swamy (India), Varun Narendra (India), Matteo Pagano (Italy), Oleksandr Polatai (Ukraine), Alexander Hansen Purnama (Indonesia), Francesco Raffaele (Italy), Alessandro Ravedati (Italy), Felipe Jose Rey Barberi (Peru), Yi Shao (China), Manik Sharma (Canada).
