Back for 2023, the IED Roma Design Award honours the most innovative projects and creative ideas produced by our students.
Monday 30th October at 6 pm, the lights go on at the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma for an event with many new features to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Rome school in the company of lecturers, alumni and invited guests.
Now at its 5th edition, the event will share with attendees 20 projects carried out by 60 creatives, encompassing all disciplines embraced by IED Roma. Seven awards categories: Performing Arts, Visual Arts, Design, Fashion, Communication, Master Course, Interdisciplinary Theses, in addition to a mention for one of the Special Projects, works that IED develops each year in partnership with companies, institutions or associations.
New this year are the Special Prizes, two acknowledgements the Rome school wishes to make on occasion of its special anniversary: the Career Award, which goes to Pierpaolo Piccioli, creative director of Valentino and world-famous fashion designer, as well as graduate of the IED Roma Fashion Programme, and the Press Award, recognition for a single project awarded by a jury of journalists and experts on art, fashion and design.
Guests will include a young creative who has achieved success following her studies at our school several years ago and presently working in one of the most famous offices in the world: Maria Sheila Miani, Social Media Strategist & Digital Artist of The Blonde Salad. Taking turns on stage will be partner companies, former students, institutions and associations who contribute each year to increasing the human and creative capital of IED.
The seven winning projects were decided by a scientific committee made up of ten industry professionals: seven representatives of management and academic coordination of IED Roma (Laura Negrini, Gianfranco Bombaci, Max Giovagnoli, Alberto Iacovoni, Paola Pattacini, Lorenzo Terragna, Luigi Vernieri); Vice President of ADI-Association for Industrial Design Antonella Andriani; the Director of Studies, Education and Promotion to the Public of Teatro dell'Opera Nunzia Nigro; and the journalist and art curator Nicolas Ballario.
In addition to Ballario, the Press Award winning project will be selected by Chiara Beghelli, Gianmaria Tammaro, Elena Cattaneo, and Alessia Delisi.
