An experiential workshop designed to rediscover creativity through play and social interaction, creating a stimulating environment for Visual Arts students beginning their educational journey at IED Torino.

From October 16 to 18, 2024, the workshop FROM ZERO TO took place, an initiative aimed at welcoming and renewing the learning experience of new students in Visual Arts courses, including Photography, Illustration, and Graphic Design. The event was held at two locations of IED Turin and focused on the theme KINDERGARTEN, placing play and social interaction at the center of the creative exploration process and design methodology.

On the first day, the workshop began with the coordinators of the Photography, Illustration, and Graphic Design courses. Giulia Ticozzi, Sara Maragotto, and Andrea Viberti welcomed the new students, presenting their respective disciplines and outlining the workshop's objectives. They emphasized the importance of building a solid foundation for the three-year course and fostering a creative and collaborative environment.

On the second day, participants participated in practical workshops led by expert instructors and professionals. Anna Casiraghi, Giada Montomoli, and Giovanni Delvecchio shared their approach to the creative process, highlighting the integration of the body, interaction with space, and cooperation. Through dynamic and engaging activities, students explored new modes of expression and design, laying the groundwork for their creative development.

The workshop concluded on October 18 with a final talk open to all, in which alumni and three instructors from the Graphic, Photography, and Illustration courses at IED Turin discussed the theme of the PATH. They addressed topics such as the beginning and conclusion of the educational journey, the search for professional identity, and the importance of unlearning to relearn. The talk was moderated by Matteo Cardamone, design leader, who guided the discussion and stimulated reflection among participants.

A special thanks goes to the alumni who collaborated on the project, including Sara Poeta, Laura Oliveri, Elena Laterza, Giulia Capra, Fabio Vigentino, Anastasia Cimmino, Margherita Rietto, Giorgia Rossi, Ginevra Tridente, Giulia Federico, Gaia Biasiato, Silvia Varetto, and Miriam Cimino, for creating content and supporting the activities. A heartfelt thank you also to the technical sponsors Quercetti, Winsor & Newton, Liquitex, and Lefranc Bourgeois for their support.
