‘Tamaq, the Vessel of Memories’ is a personal 3D short film about reliving a childhood memory through food.
The different characters, portrayed as typical dishes from Kazakhstan, the student’s birthplace, represent different experiences from her past. Some are positive, reflected in the form of the friendly Baursak kids (a traditional Kazakh fried dough bread served on special occasions) or the Tary bowls (a millet-based porridge symbolising tradition and family sustenance). Others, however, are negative. This is the case with the olives (which the student hated as a child), represented as a menacing, faceless monster.
A piece with a visual texture reminiscent of the clay used in typical stop-motion short films.
