‘Daka Archive’ is an immersive digital archive experience that collects Taíno culture and history. The project uses 3D animations, storytelling, and archiving techniques to draw attention to the enduring strength of marginalised narratives, challenge historical accounts, and counteract the elimination of Indigenous heritage.
Each entry within the archive enables the exploration and documentation of the nuances of Taíno culture that may have been overlooked or lost due to the adverse impacts of colonialism. In doing so, it encourages us to rethink how we perceive the past and reflect on whether the stories that have been erased, forgotten, or ignored will, one day, be acknowledged and given space to emerge.
