A kettle that works exclusively with sunlight to support a slow lifestyle

All cultures across the world need to boil water to make infusions. Söndag is a kettle that works exclusively with sunlight, designed to fit into a varied cultural and social context and to support a slow lifestyle.

To use it, simply fill it with water and place it in a sunny spot for 148 minutes, allowing the heat of the sun to boil the water. With a one-litre capacity, this takes some time, but it also promotes slow living and taking time to appreciate the little things in life. It’s perfect for making a cosy cup of tea and sharing with a friend.

While from the outside it looks like a traditional water jug, the ceramic construction of the kettle brings it closer to the functionality of a water heater. Traditional methods of boiling water rely mainly on natural gas or electricity, often from non-renewable resources, which intensifies the carbon footprint at a global level. In the midst of this crisis, solar cookers are a promising alternative.

The product is inspired by the solar vacuum tubes used to collect heat. These tubes offer a way to reduce energy costs by using solar energy to boil water.  By combining solar-powered kitchen appliances, we aim to reduce our environmental impact.
