A playful dissertation exploring the current childrenswear industry, investigating the role of children’s identities and the consumption habits of parents.
The initial inspiration for the project came from noticing a heightened importance given to garments by children today, leading the student to ask the question “Why do children care more about fashion and brands than they did in the past?”
The main objective of this thesis is to understand the development of children’s fashion in parallel with that of the children’s clothing market, as a means of identifying key success factors and developing specific marketing and communication strategies.
Key themes addressed throughout this study include aspects of motherhood, the commercialisation of childhood, and industry branding strategies.
