The positive impact of IED Barcelona’s design in helping future executive leaders to learn about real-world sustainability issues in an effective manner has been recognised by the 2025 Responsible Business Education Awards bestowed by the Financial Times. The awards by this newspaper specialising in economics and business have rated the Challenge-Based Innovation (CBI) programme, which is part of the Master in Design Management, as “highly recommended”.
CBI is an initiative promoted by @IdeaSquare and the Innovation Department of the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN), and has been taught by IED Barcelona in collaboration with the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC) and Esade for more than 10 years. A decade during which multidisciplinary teams of students from the three institutions have worked together combining design, engineering and business knowledge to develop new solutions for the future of humanity.
Providing responses to environmental pollution, health needs arising from the pandemic, and guaranteeing universal access to clean water are just some of the latest global challenges posed by the programme.
