On October 30th, the ADI Permanent Design Observatory selected the Bud Buddy project, created by the students of the Bachelor's Degree in Product Design, for publication in the ADI Design Index 2024.
The ADI Design Index 2024 represents the first volume of the biennial cycle that selects and collects products eligible for the ADI Compasso d'Oro Award 2026. In this context, Bud Buddy, a project developed by Anna Maria Cabini, Erica Maruelli, and Fabio Zuccoli, has been recognized. The project aims to provide support to children on the autism spectrum through a device that helps them with their daily activities, promoting greater autonomy and independence, while boosting their confidence. The app is designed to meet the needs of both the children and their parents, while also incorporating suggestions from psychologists.
The Compasso d'Oro Award was created in 1954 by "La Rinascente" and later donated to ADI, which has managed it continuously since 1956. It is considered the most prestigious recognition for the production and design quality of Italian products, services, processes, and systems. The award, which includes the honored products, has led to the creation of the largest historical collection of design, declared a "national heritage" in 2004.
Since 2009, the ADI Design Index has also served as the annual selection for the National Innovation Award. This important award recognizes three significant products each year, based on a specific theme of innovation, chosen from those published in the ADI Design Index.
