Focusing on the case of Chorkor, a neighborhood in the Accra Metropolis district of the Greater Accra Region in Ghana, TEXTILE REFUGE is an open-source initiative that develops an innovative material by combining cement and textile waste to build standardized housing structures. This approach not only addresses the issue of excess textile waste but also offers durable housing solutions for vulnerable communities at risk of eviction (such as safe housing for displaced people). At the same time, it creates local job opportunities, significantly contributing to the reduction of the environmental impact of textile waste.
