The simulacrum theory arises from the idea that contemporary reality has become a representation of itself, where copies and simulacra are so predominant that the original reality fades away. This new reality is created under the rules of an anaesthetised and closed society.
The title of the Fashion Design Final Degree Project ‘News from nowhere’ by the student Leire Movilla emerges from the fascination of someone who observes this fantastic and alien reality from the comfort that distance provides, filled with wonder to discover a parallel reality to which they do not have access and about which there are no certainties. It is precisely this lack of certainty that captivates us, even if we can only catch a glimpse of it on a superficial level.
