The students of the Bachelor's Degree in Interior Design developed this project in collaboration with Intesa San Paolo, with the aim of revolutionizing workspaces by merging the physical and virtual environments.

Intesa Sanpaolo is one of Italy's leading banking groups, with a significant international presence. The bank also promotes initiatives that positively impact communities, supporting projects related to art, culture, and sustainable development.

The Covid-19 pandemic has profoundly reshaped the concept of the workplace. The current challenge is to reintegrate people accustomed to remote work into face-to-face collaboration. In this context, technology facilitates the transition toward a balance between working from home and in the office. "Metareality" represents this convergence of the physical and digital worlds, promoting a holistic approach through digital twins and the metaverse, offering new opportunities to rethink work and collaboration, while creating a resilient, inclusive, and innovative work environment.

The thesis project will follow a digital workflow using an accessible digital twin for conceptual design and development, supported by artificial intelligence platforms. Students will work in a three-dimensional environment to design, iterate, and present Interior Design solutions, exploring the relationship between physical and digital spaces from a Human-Centered Interior Design perspective.

The project spaces are essentially two:

  • Physical Realm: The physical project will take place in the salon of the Visconti Castle in Cusago, a building of historical and architectural significance.

  • Digital Realm: The digital space will be a digital twin of the physical salon, allowing for innovative interpretations and enhancing the digital experience.

The goal is to create a project that integrates physical and digital spaces, promoting a new vision of work and collaboration in the post-Covid era.
