Project inspired by the famous novel The Beehive by Camilo José Cela to create a dystopian universe in the form of a video game

This project creates the costumes for the adaptation of the novel ‘The Hive’ by Camilo José Cela, which has been converted into a video game. The Fashion Design graduate Ainara Urkijo has created this dystopian post-war universe, in which players explore a bleak, re-imagined version of the Madrid hive. In the aftermath of a devastating war, society is marked by decadence, a lack of resources and an authoritarian government that exerts total control. Players take on the role of various characters, each with their own story and background, from a priest who doubts his faith to a prostitute in a precarious situation.

Fashion is crucial in this video game. It’s not simply a matter of creating or designing costumes for the characters; fashion defines the game, sets the context and represents ‘La Colmena 2131’ [‘The Hive 2131’].
