2023/2024

With the project Interconnessi, the Interior Design course explored a new configuration of spaces and services for the Goffredo Mameli Library, located in the Pigneto district of Rome.

The work offers innovative design solutions for the new Libraries of Rome, conceived as places of study, meeting and exchange accommodating a wide range of cultural activities. They are located in neighbourhoods not yet reached by the service and are especially aimed at the younger generations.

The intention of the project is to maintain the façade and identity of the neighbourhood library and to change the internal layout and distribution of spaces, in order to better connect the interior and exterior. The project features a conference room and a new children's area, and envisages dividing the space into four zones, identified by specific colours. Red is used for the entrance area with the desk and the new conference room, yellow for the children's area that expands into the garden, blue for the study and co-working area, and green to identify a slightly more private reading area. The flooring is made of coloured resin and the indoor curtains also echo the specific colour used. Together with the colours, the furniture also contributes to defining the different spaces.
