Creating an immersive experience between past and present is the essence of Casa Vicoli, the thesis project by Maria Paula Vega, developed during the Master in Interior Design for Hospitality at IED Roma.

Inspired by the layered history of Rione Terra, Casa Vicoli is conceived as a village within a village—an intricate network of alleys and pathways weaving through ancient and contemporary architecture. This project transforms hospitality into an exploration, inviting guests to discover hidden corners, archaeological remains, and echoes of the past, engaging in an ongoing dialogue with the site’s history.

The themes of connection and discovery are reflected in the interior design, which enhances the material richness of textures and surfaces shaped by time. Lighting, materials, and furnishings are carefully selected to amplify the character of each space, creating an intimate and evocative atmosphere that celebrates the heritage and identity of Rione Terra.
