A selection of six projects from IED Madrid, Barcelona, Milano and Roma participated in the “Class of” exhibition during Dutch Design Week 2024 

From October 19th to 27th, Eindhoven hosted a new edition of the Dutch Design Week and we participated in the “Class of” exhibition with a selection of our latest graduate projects. 

We were one of the 17 schools that were present in the exhibition with a selection of projects that reflect not only a human-centered design approach, but solutions that understand design as a platform that can transform the world by taking care of it. 

“Relation of cares” is the title of the exhibition where a group of six projects from IED Milano, Barcelona, Madrid and Roma showcase how the new generations of designers relate to each other and towards the Planet with the aim of creating a better world for all. 

The projects selected were:  

  • Waisy by Laura Valdés from IED Barcelona. An interactive gamebook that engages the participant in the world of Incan symbology. 
  • Manta by Daniel Bertollo, Simone Centonze and Michele Martelloni from IED Milano. A plug-in system designed to be integrated with SUP, canoe and surfboards that monitor and collect microplastics through water sports and related activities. 
  • Textile Refugee by Carola Castiglione, Mattia Macciachini, Giacomo Frova and Mattia Cappiello from IED Milano. A new material to create housing structures with hydrated lime and textile waste aiming to provide safe housing for displaced people while creating local employment opportunities.
  • Ortesis Urbana by Paula Garrote from IED Madrid. An urban furntinture collection that invades public spaces as ortesis claiming the spaces and inviting people to share them, fostering community networks. 
  • B:abble by Penélope N. Martínez from IED Madrid. An interactive and educational board to learn sign language. 
  • Design For Physics a project by Product Design students from IED Roma in collaboration with the Physics department of Sapienza University in Rome which presents a tool kit to learn physics at school.
