Second-year students of Jewelry Design meet with three companies in the sector to design a jewelry collection using 3D Metal Binder Jet technology and stone cutting, which will be featured in the Leather&Luxury magazine
A collaboration of excellence in the world of jewelry kicks off at IED Milano. Three companies, offering concrete market opportunities, have just been welcomed into the classroom to engage with the students of the Bachelor of Arts in Jewelry Design.
The companies at the heart of this synergy are Leather&Luxury, Legor, and Taurini Pianeta Gemme, who have chosen to connect with future jewelry designers to share their expertise and introduce the key steps of a collaboration that will culminate in the presentation of the students’ collection. In particular, they will experiment with advanced technologies present in Legor's facilities, which they will complement with stones provided by Taurini. There will also be a photoshoot of the collection, followed by an online survey. One of these collections will be selected by the three companies and officially launched in a true collaboration.
The Leather&Luxury magazine is a vital resource for brands and designers working in Italian manufacturing. This publishing entity offers a comprehensive view of the leather goods production chain, combining craftsmanship tradition and new trends. Its goal is to connect the key players of Made in Italy, providing visibility to every stage of production, from ideation to the realization of the product.
Legor, with over 40 years of experience, is a leader in technological innovation for jewelry creation. Its advanced Metal Jet 3D Printing technology, which uses metal powders and binders to create complex three-dimensional objects, represents a cutting-edge approach to jewelry design. The students will have the opportunity to leverage this technology to create unique pieces, blending agility, creativity, and sustainability.
Finally, Taurini Pianeta Gemme, a prominent name in the jewelry and fashion accessories sector, stands out for its use of natural stones, marbles, and synthetic pastes, creating works through craftsmanship that combines mosaic techniques, sculpture, and goldsmithing. With over thirty years of experience, Alessandro Taurini’s company offers a unique experience where craftsmanship meets innovation.
The meeting with these three companies is just the beginning of a journey that will culminate in the final presentation of the students, scheduled for a dedicated event in July 2025. During this time, the young designers will have the opportunity to work closely with the business realities, creating extremely creative projects.
