IED Barcelona continues to support artistic talent as a driving force for social transformation. In its second year collaborating with the Setba Foundation — an entity that focuses its activity on generating spaces for social inclusion through culture — and as announced during the 14th Setba Prize Award Ceremony, on 1 October, the Point One campus opened the doors of its Medialab to teach a personalised digital portrait workshop for the artist who won the award, Ruben Afonso, and 10 of his colleagues from the Fundació Ampans.
Under the title ‘Digital portrait – retrato digital’, this three-hour workshop, valued at 1,000 euros, offered a unique opportunity to learn photography techniques and discover a new form of personal expression by taking creative portraits of the participants themselves.
The session was structured around a participatory approach in which role-playing was a key aspect: while one participant was the model, another took on the role of photographer and the rest helped with lighting and artistic direction.
The workshop was held in an atmosphere of interaction and trust that allowed for shared learning, combining photography, art and design.
This is the result.
