IED Barcelona welcomed the 173 students from the 13 master’s, postgraduate and specialisation courses who have begun their training journey in January. To this end, on 16 and 17 January, a range of activities were organised as a first contact with the IED universe, and in order to create a community from the very first moment of their arrival at the School.
During the first day, the master’s students participated in a multidisciplinary workshop led by Anaïs Esmerado. ‘Designing for the Many’ is a training innovation project with the objective of solving challenges through the research capacity, strategies and social impact of design. On this occasion, the challenge proposed to the students was: How can design strengthen the connection between the IED community and the Gràcia neighbourhood?
The following day, the official welcome by the management of IED Barcelona and academic management took place, which was attended by both the master’s students and those on the postgraduate and specialisation courses. The event also included the conference ‘Regenerative Culture: Design and communication’, given by Gabriela Pedranti, partner and co-founder of Semiotica Studio, in which the purpose of design taking into account the planet was addressed.
From now on, and during the next few months, the students will embark on a total of seven master’s, two postgraduate and four specialisation courses. These are:
